You will never really know that you bought or sold at the “best time” until some point in the future. Kind of like when we all bought homes in 2007, and then kicked ourselves in 2009 for doing so. Then when we were all so scared to buy again in 2011, and up until now are so happy with the equity we have gained. You can never time the market (even though some think they can), because time machines have not been invented yet, and we can’t see the future only predict it.
With that said, current market trends seem to be somewhat consistent. The graph below is a great illustration on the statistically “Best” months to sell your home to “Maximize” financial return. Inversely, the graph may also indicate the best time for buyers to “Get A Deal”. Summarized; Tall bars possible “Best” time to SELL and short bars possible “Best” time to BUY.
